Jazz Poetry was in during the Harlem Renessaince (for those who don't know, it started in 1920, ended 1930). The main propellor of this genre was Langston Hughes, because a lot of people before him either just wrote about jazz or poorly defined the jazz in their poetry. Jazz poetry = poetry+jazz, and if you don't have all the compnents of the poetry, its not jazz poetry. This may seem like a huge restriction, but because of jazz poetry, you're able to make your rhythm with more of a jazzy feel, a syncoptated tune. You can say stuff that doesn't matter, use onomatopeia, rhyme, and sing. And tell a story. And have a nice flow that sounds like jazz itself. You can also have jazz music playing in the background.
